What Is Neymar's Salary at Al-Hilal?
The Brazilian arrived at the Saudi club in 2023 and has a contract until 2025. What is his salary? A truly massive amount. We tell you here.
Neymar’s career continues to be plagued by injuries, leaving the Brazilian star struggling to fulfill his immense potential. After what seemed like a possible recovery, another setback has once again overshadowed his ability to play.
Over the last two years, Neymar has faced five major injuries, playing just 20 matches since the 2022 World Cup, with only 11 of those being full games. These figures are far from what was expected from one of the world’s best players.
Massive Salary
While Neymar’s personal frustrations continue, his club, Al Hilal, is also feeling the impact. The Saudi Arabian team paid around $98 million for the Brazilian forward, and his annual salary is reportedly a massive $107 million, valid until 2025. Given his ongoing injuries, the club has started considering the possibility of negotiating a contract termination. So far, Neymar has played only seven matches (four as a starter), scored one goal, and provided three assists over a season and a half in Saudi Arabia.
Injury Nightmare
The nightmare began during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where Neymar’s injuries began to pile up. He had to undergo surgery on his ankle (which kept him out for 131 days), dealt with muscle problems (30 days on the sidelines), and suffered a torn knee ligament (resulting in 366 days away from football).
His latest issue came in a Champions League game between Al Hilal and Esteghlal, where Neymar felt pain in the back of his right leg. This new injury will keep him out for 4 to 6 weeks, adding to his already long list of setbacks. His return to action was brief, playing just 14 minutes against Al Ain and 29 minutes against Esteghlal, with little success in avoiding further injuries.
Return to Brazil?
His time in Saudi Arabia has been far from the success everyone hoped for. His absence from the squad has become a recurring issue, and rumors of a potential return to Brazil are surfacing. Santos, his former club, has even confirmed that discussions about a potential comeback are taking place.
In Brazil, Neymar’s return to the national team is eagerly awaited, with fans desperate to see him don the yellow jersey once again. Before his injury, many fans hoped he would be called up for the upcoming international matches, but coach Dorival Júnior, in coordination with Al Hilal, decided Neymar would not be included in the squad.
Neymar had expressed his wish to be part of the team, but it was agreed that a more gradual recovery process was needed. Brazil’s struggles since Neymar’s injury have been clear. The team suffered two losses in their next matches, had a disappointing Copa América, and were dealt a painful defeat by Paraguay in September. The Brazilian national team has found life without Neymar to be difficult.
Despite the setbacks, Neymar has shown flashes of brilliance during his limited appearances for Al Hilal. However, these moments have been few and far between, leading to frustration over the immense amount of money invested in him. His recent return to Brazil for further recovery has sparked more criticism. Now, the big question is whether Al Hilal will continue to rely on Neymar for the long-term future or if this chapter in his career will soon come to an end.
