Was Rodri's Injury the Fault of the National Team? Guardiola Weighs In
Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, absolved the international break of any responsibility for the cruciate ligament injury suffered by Rodri.
The Spanish midfielder will miss the remainder of the season after making his first appearance of the campaign with City last weekend against Arsenal. Rodri was unable to start the season normally due to a hamstring injury sustained in the Euro 2024 final with Spain and began the campaign during the last international break, playing 60 minutes in the Switzerland-Spain match.
"I'm not a doctor. I don't know, and no one knows," Guardiola said when asked if Rodri's presence with Spain may have contributed to his injury, even though Rodri played ninety minutes against Inter Milan after the match with the Swiss before the unfortunate incident against Arsenal.
"I have my opinion, but the national team wanted what was best for him, and this (the injury) is not remotely related to the national team," added the Spanish manager.
