Tyler Adams On Racist Insults
Tyler Adams, midfielder for Bournemouth in the Premier League, admitted on Saturday that racist comments on social media have become "normal."
"It's normal at this point. It's normal," Adams stated during a press conference in Kansas City following comments received by some of his teammates after losing 2-1 to Panama in a Copa America match.
"I don't think anyone can play a bad game, even a good game, and not encounter something afterward on social media," added the American midfielder.
Americans Folarin Balogun and Chris Richards shared racist messages they received on their Instagram accounts after the match against Panama, a situation that had previously occurred with Canadian players after their defeat to Argentina.
"The fact that we've allowed this to infiltrate the game is just terrible," said the midfielder.
Adams admitted that he personally stays away from social media: "It's all toxic, no matter where you look."
