Tim Howard Wants to Fly to Spain to Convince Jurgen Klopp to Take USMNT Job
One of the greatest figures in the history of the US Men's National Team, a multiple World Cup participant, Tim Howard has expressed his willingness to travel to Spain, where Jurgen Klopp currently resides, to persuade him to take charge of the American team.
In his column for the English outlet 'Daily Mail,' he shared his thoughts on what the US soccer executives should do right now.
"So if I were in charge of US soccer right now, I'd be heading to the airport. Why? Because I believe I could make a very compelling case to Jurgen Klopp to lead the US Men's National Team. After the disappointment of the Copa America, after the US lost to Uruguay and got knocked out in the group stage, personally, I'd fly to Spain. I'm dead serious," he said.
He also outlined his plan to entice the former Liverpool manager back to coaching: "The money is certainly there. So my pitch would be simple: you've got a group of young players who can play progressive, attacking football, just like your teams at Liverpool. And in two years, you could be part of the biggest World Cup ever."
"Plus, it's international football, so you don't need to be on the training pitch every day. You don't even have to worry about qualifying," he concluded in his column. Should USMNT charm Jurgen Klopp?"
