Roberto Martínez Keeps Faith in Joao Félix's Future
João Félix is among the names on Portugal’s Nations League roster announced by head coach Roberto Martínez, who highlighted the striker’s "incredible" talent despite his limited minutes at Chelsea.
Félix, who scored twice in Chelsea’s 8-0 win over Armenian side Noa, "is a unique player" with "amazing skill between the lines and in tight spaces," Martínez emphasized during a press conference at the Cidade do Futebol complex near Lisbon.
The Spanish coach downplayed Félix’s lack of regular playing time, noting, "Players go through ups and downs, but what matters is commitment and attitude."
Currently at the top of Group A1 and close to the quarterfinals, Portugal will face Poland, led by Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski, and then take on Croatia. According to Martínez, this call-up focuses on offensive players "who can reach the final third," with the squad once again led by Cristiano Ronaldo.
