Modric on Real Madrid's Display Against Espanyol
Luka Modric praised the improvement in Real Madrid's play following their 4-1 rout of Espanyol, noting that while they struggle to score in the first half, they produced a "well-rounded performance" where they were "very good both with and without the ball."
"We had a good game, especially in the second half. We find it hard to score in the first half, but we created many chances. Today, we were very good both with and without the ball. This match will give us confidence to keep improving," he told Real Madrid TV.
"The team played very well and we delivered a complete performance from start to finish. In the first half, we struggled a bit to find the goal, but we played well. Fitness and quality are key against teams that sit back. They scored first, but we didn’t lose our heads and kept playing," he added.
The Croatian midfielder highlighted the impressive record of 38 consecutive league matches without a loss for Real Madrid. "It says a lot not to lose matches over so many games, but we have to keep going. This comes down to the character, quality, and commitment of the team. Plus, everyone is ready when it's their turn to play."
He concluded by praising the attacking quartet of Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappé, Rodrygo, and Vinícius, acknowledging that their understanding can improve. "They are world-class players, and we are happy to have them on the team. They are doing well, but we can improve, and this match can give confidence to all of us."
