Good News for Real Madrid Ahead of the Derby
Real Madrid held its first training session to prepare for the derby against Atlético Madrid at the Civitas Metropolitano, featuring a significant update: French midfielder Eduardo Camavinga participated in part of the group training.
This aligns with the timeline previously indicated by Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, who mentioned in a press conference on Monday: "Camavinga's plan is to train with the team starting Thursday. We rested after the match on Wednesday, and he will be available to play in the derby."
So far, the international Frenchman had only been working separately from the rest of the squad following a knee sprain he sustained in the training session before the UEFA Super Cup match against Atalanta in Warsaw on August 13.
In contrast, his compatriot Kylian Mbappé had to leave the last match against Alavés prematurely due to a muscle injury in the biceps femoris of his left leg, which is expected to keep him sidelined for approximately three weeks.
Thus, his focus remains on recovering from his physical issues, similar to teammates Brahim Díaz, Dani Ceballos, and David Alaba.
The training session for the available players included initial gym exercises followed by work on possession, ball control, buildup play, and pressing, as well as a series of small-sided games.
