Fan Suffers Fracture from Füllkrug's Shot
A German fan suffered a fractured hand after being struck by a powerful shot from forward Niclas Füllkrug during the warm-up before the opening match of the Euro 2024 between Germany and Scotland.
"I ended up singing the anthem on a stretcher and didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I had to give up my dream of watching the opening match. But it's not every day you suffer a fracture from a Füllkrug shot," the fan said in statements published by the daily "Bild" on Tuesday.
The German Football Association (DFB) has confirmed the incident initially reported by "Bild." The fan was in the front row behind the goal when Füllkrug's shot hit him so hard that he had to be taken to a hospital.
As a consolation, Füllkrug has sent the fan a signed jersey and a message of apology.
