Cristiano Ronaldo's New Launch Sparks Online Frenzy
The Portuguese star shook up social media after announcing his own YouTube channel "UR Cristiano", aiming to get closer to his fans.
Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo launched his new project on Wednesday, a YouTube channel called 'UR Cristiano,' aiming to "be closer" to his followers. Within hours, it has attracted millions of subscribers.
"I think (YouTube) is an ideal platform to share a bit of my life and my things," Cristiano said in a launch video, where he appeared alongside his partner, Spanish model Georgina Rodríguez.
"It's a way to be closer to my fans, to my people," added the Portuguese footballer, who currently plays for Saudi club Al Nassr.
Georgina, for her part, assured that the initiative is "bound for success" due to Cristiano's "dedication" and "magnetism" in drawing people in.
She mentioned that they will be able to show that they are "real people," while Cristiano emphasized that the channel will reveal their "healthy relationship."
'UR Cristiano' debuted on Wednesday and quickly surpassed one million subscribers.
The profile already features nearly twenty videos, where Cristiano reviews some of his best goals, challenges his eldest son, Cristiano Junior, to take free kicks, and discusses how he handles pressure.
