Cristiano Ronaldo Announces: This Will Be His Last Euro
One of the greatest players in football history, Cristiano Ronaldo, is nearing the twilight of his illustrious career. The Portuguese forward has amassed numerous accolades throughout his time, both at club level (notably with Real Madrid) and with the Portugal national team.
Among his cherished achievements is winning the 2016 European Championship, his first major title with Portugal. Ronaldo has consistently performed well in the Euros, showcasing remarkable numbers over the years.
However, all good things must come to an end. After participating in six editions of the tournament, Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that he will not play in another Euro, as he revealed to the Portuguese outlet RTP.
“This is undoubtedly my last European Championship,” stated the five-time Ballon d'Or winner. “Football means so much to me: the excitement I have for the game, the enthusiasm of seeing my fans, my family, and the love I receive from people,” continued the Portuguese star.
Ronaldo made his Euro debut in 2004, a tournament in which Portugal reached the final but lost to Greece. Now, he aims to lift the trophy for the second time in his career, following Portugal's victory over Slovenia in the Round of 16 of the current edition. Next, they will face Kylian Mbappé's France in the quarterfinals.
