Bellingham Responds to Goal Drought This Season
Jude Bellingham, midfielder for Real Madrid, acknowledged after scoring his first goal of the season that there had been whispers about his lower scoring rate compared to last season. He explained that his role on the team has shifted, which influences his goal opportunities.
"I played as I always do, but this time I managed to score. There's been some chatter because I scored a lot last season, but my role has changed this season to different areas of the field. I'll do anything for the team's good. I've been less selfish and I'd like to continue in this manner. My goal is to help the team in any way possible," he shared on Realmadrid TV.
Bellingham also praised his teammate Vinícius Junior, who scored a hat-trick against Osasuna.
"Vinícius has great mental strength. The last two or three weeks have been tough for everyone, including him. I get along very well with him and I'm very proud of how he plays; he's a leader for us and we look to him for inspiration. When he plays like that, he’s unstoppable," he remarked.
Moreover, he described the 4-0 thrashing of Osasuna as the most complete match of the season so far.
"Yes, it has been our most complete game. High pressure, ball control... we created many scoring opportunities. It all started with how we kicked off the match, we were strong and lasted the whole game. All the players shined today," he concluded.
