Alex Morgan Erupts after Being Left Out of The Olympics
Alex Morgan, legendary forward and two-time World Cup champion with the U.S. women's national team, was left out of the squad by coach Emma Hayes ahead of the Paris Olympics.
Following Megan Rapinoe's retirement last year, the United States continues its process of generational change and left out Morgan, 34, who has scored 123 goals as a U.S. international.
After it was announced that Morgan was left out of the squad, she posted an emotional message on her social media:
"Today, I am disappointed not to have the opportunity to represent our country on the Olympic stage. This will always be a tournament close to my heart, and I take immense pride every time I wear the jersey," the footballer expressed while affirming that she will continue to support the team.
Alex Morgan was present in the last four Olympic Games with the U.S. team, and this will be the first time in 16 years that we won't see the player in the Olympic competition.
