Spain’s Women’s Team Wins Padel World Championship in Qatar
The Spanish Women’s Paddle Team was crowned World Champion in Doha, Qatar, defeating Argentina 2-0 in the final. This victory marks their sixth consecutive title and ninth overall, surpassing Argentina in the title count.
Spain, the tournament favorite, showcased their superiority. The second match was particularly memorable, as the world’s top-ranked pair, Ari Sánchez and Paula Josemaría, faced the Argentine duo of Delfina Brea and Claudia Jensen in a clash that stretched for three hours, ending with a score of 3-6, 7-5, 7-5.
Historically, Spain and Argentina have contested all World Paddle Championship finals, except for the 2012 edition where Argentina defeated Brazil, securing their last title before Spain’s five-title winning streak.
The decisive match, which proved to be the most intense of the tournament, ultimately tipped in favor of Sánchez and Josemaría, who managed to overcome a match point against them to clinch the victory.
