In the women's final, Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez secured a decisive victory with a score of 6-3, 6-1 against Marta Ortega and Sofia Araujo, who had reached the final by defeating the number 1 seeds in Genoa. This title in Finland marks the first P2 for the duo following an impressive run that included two major titles (Doha and Rome) and three P1 titles (Riyadh, Mar del Plata, and Malaga). Despite a closely contested first set, Josemaria and Sanchez showcased their quality in the second set, reaffirming their dominance on the circuit.
The win in Finland was particularly significant for Josemaria and Sanchez, who had faced a losing streak from Doha to Mar del Plata. Their victory without dropping a set at the Finnish tournament represents a notable return to form. Josemaria expressed her gratitude to her family and the teams that have supported her career from her early days in tennis to her transition to padel at 17.
“Today, I want to think about my family and how many hours they have dedicated to me,” said Josemaria. “I also remember all the teams that have brought me this far. It’s a very emotional moment for me, as I always wanted to be number one, but when I achieved that goal, I realized that what I truly wanted was to make a mark, and that’s what Ari and I are doing.”
