Kansas City Chiefs Suspend Practice Due to Cardiac Arrest
The Kansas City Chiefs, NFL champions, canceled their practice this Wednesday after one of their backup players suffered a cardiac arrest and had to be taken to a hospital.
According to information from Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, a backup defensive lineman suffered a seizure followed by cardiac arrest. The player was promptly attended to by the team's medical staff and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where he is in stable condition.
The Chiefs, who are in phase three, the final stage of voluntary workouts that veteran players are not required to attend, will return to the field this Friday.
The mandatory minicamp for all players is scheduled to begin on June 11, as part of their preparation for the 2024 NFL season in which they will seek a third consecutive title following their victories in Super Bowls LVII and LVIII.
