Confirmed: Top Female Triathletes Set for the T100 Triathlon in Lake Las Vegas: An Elite Showdown
The Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) and World Triathlon have confirmed that all 17 contracted female athletes will compete in the T100 Triathlon in Lake Las Vegas on October 19-20. This will mark the second consecutive event where all the top athletes will be present, setting the stage for a fiercely contested competition.
Leading the list is Australia’s Ashleigh Gentle, the current T100 series leader. Gentle will go head-to-head with American Olympic silver medalist Taylor Knibb and British star Lucy Charles-Barclay, who returns after an injury suffered in London. It will be the first time these three triathletes face each other in the same race since the PTO event in Dallas in 2022, where Gentle overtook Knibb on the run, with Charles-Barclay finishing in third.
This event will be crucial in the season, as it is the penultimate race of the 2024 T100 series. With the top 9 athletes in the current standings participating, the competitors will battle to improve their position before the grand finale at the T100 World Championship in Dubai on November 16-17.
The women’s pro race, covering 100 km (2 km swim, 80 km bike, 18 km run), will start at 08:15 local time on Saturday, October 19. The men’s pro race will take place later the same day. The course includes a challenging 20% climb during the bike leg, with a total elevation gain of over 1,400 meters, making it the toughest route in the T100 series.
In addition to the pro races, there will be a 100 km amateur triathlon on Sunday, October 20, following a similar course, as well as open water swimming events of 2 km and 4 km.
