Simone Biles Clinches Her Ninth National Title and Speeds Towards Paris
Simone Biles, the most decorated gymnast in United States history, clinched her ninth national title in Fort Worth, Texas, extending her record of victories after surpassing Alfred Joachim's mark set in 1933 last summer.
Biles delivered an outstanding performance and heads into the final trials for the U.S. Olympic team, scheduled from June 27th to 30th in Minneapolis, with momentum.
The American gymnast, winner of four Olympic gold medals, concluded her performance with a total of 119.750 points, nearly six points ahead of the second-place finisher, Skye Blakely, while the third position went to Kayla DiCello. Biles had already secured a solid lead by totaling 60.450 points on Saturday.
This triumph for Biles, which saw her family in the stands in Fort Worth, adds to the titles she won in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2023.
With less than a month remaining until the final trials in Minneapolis, Biles continues to accelerate toward her return to the Olympic stage.
Before her comeback in August 2023, Biles took time to focus on her health and also became one of the most respected voices in advocating for athletes' rights.
