Pierre Gasly and Alpine Extend Contract
French driver Pierre Gasly has renewed his contract with Alpine with a multi-year deal whose duration has not been specified, but which will extend "beyond" the 2025 season, according to a statement from the Formula 1 team.
"I am excited for what lies ahead, and now I am focusing on the day-to-day details we are implementing to improve our performance," said the driver in statements released by Alpine on Thursday.
At 28 years old, Gasly has a history of 140 races in the category, 32 of which are with the French team. He is currently racing in his second season with them, highlighted by two podium finishes in the 2023 Belgian Grand Prix sprint, where he finished third, and in the Dutch Grand Prix that same year, also finishing third.
The Frenchman, who acknowledged that this year on the track "has been a challenging season so far," emphasized that he has always wanted "to build a long-term project" and expressed his happiness "with the changes made and the hard work."
"I am pleased with the changes made, the hard work, and the direction the team is taking. There is a lot of potential in the staff and resources of this team," he noted.
STROLL RENEWS FOR ANOTHER YEAR
Another driver who will be on the grid for another year is Canadian Lance Stroll, who has renewed with Aston Martin, the team where Spanish driver Fernando Alonso races and which is owned by his father, Lawrence Stroll, with a multi-year contract "that will allow him to enter the new era of regulations," meaning he will be with the team at least until 2026.
"It's amazing to see how far we've come in the last five years. We've grown so much as a team and there's still much more to look forward to," said the North American driver in statements released on Thursday by the team.
Since joining the Silverstone-based team in 2019, when it was racing under the name Racing Point, Stroll has completed over 150 Formula One races, with three podium finishes.
