Barcelona GP: Max Verstappen Wins, Hamilton Returns to Podium
Max Verstappen, F1 driver for Red Bull Racing, secured his seventh victory of the season by crossing the finish line 2.219 seconds ahead of Lando Norris (McLaren), who had achieved pole position last Saturday.
In the top three positions, in addition to the Dutch triple champion and Norris, was seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), who earned his 198th career podium, this being his first since last season's Mexican Grand Prix.
Verstappen managed to climb from third place to first thanks to strategies from Christian Horner and the rest of the Red Bull engineers; however, unlike last season, the Austrian team's car did not dominate with a wide margin at the Circuit de Catalunya.
Red Bull's other teammate, Mexican Sergio Pérez, crossed the finish line in eighth place; the Spaniard Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) finished sixth.
With this result, Verstappen accumulates 219 points, maintaining first place in the drivers' championship, while Norris climbed to second place with 150 points; Monegasque Charles Leclerc dropped to third place with 148 points.
Here is the final grid at the end of the Barcelona GP: Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz, Oscar Piastri, Sergio Perez, Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Nico Hulkenberg, Fernando Alonso, Zhou Guanyu, Lance Stroll, Daniel Ricciardo, Valtteri Bottas, Kevin Magnussen, Alex Albon, Yuki Tsunoda, and Logan Sargeant.
