What Alexa Grasso Said About Her Fight Against Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 306
Alexa Grasso, the reigning UFC Flyweight champion, will defend her title against Valentina Shevchenko in what will be the first women’s trilogy in the company’s history, on a night that will undoubtedly be historic for combat sports.
While the Kyrgyz fighter is eager for revenge, the first Mexican champion in Ultimate Fighting Championship history feels fully prepared to face this bout, which is co-headlining a card packed with Mexican fighters on September 14.
'The most important thing is to win, and that’s what I have most [on my mind]. I feel great, I feel prepared. I trained a lot and know exactly what I need to do, which is to move forward and be myself,' she told the media at a press conference.
'It’s been great competition (with Valentina). The fights we’ve had have been incredible due to the technical level, passion, and professionalism we’ve displayed. I’m very proud to keep making history by having the first women’s trilogy. I can’t wait for Saturday,' she added.
She also took the time to express and highlight the qualities of Mexican fighters: 'We love to move forward and give our all in the fight. We don’t let time slip by; we’re always trying. We give our best so everyone can feel what we’re experiencing and see all the hard work we put in. It’s really great that people think that about Mexicans.'"
