Adesanya and Strickland Make Weight for UFC 293 Showdown
SYDNEY — Israel Adesanya and Sean Strickland met the required weight threshold for the eagerly anticipated main event at UFC 293, although the same could not be said for one of Adesanya’s squad members.
During the official weigh-in on Friday, both Adesanya and Strickland cleared the necessary limit for their forthcoming middleweight championship confrontation set to headline the Saturday event at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia.
Defending champion Adesanya was the premier athlete to take to the scale, registering a weight of 184.8 pounds. Strickland followed later during the event and, despite needing to undress, he matched the championship fight stipulation, weighing in at 184.9 pounds.
