Mike Tyson Called "Chicken" for Fighting a YouTuber
Masseroni, known as the “Bomber of Beccar” and former Argentine champion of the Argentine Boxing Federation (FAB), has dreamed of a fight with Tyson for four decades. In the 90s, he came close to making it happen, even attracting the interest of promoter Don King, but a deal was never finalized. Now, with Tyson returning to the ring, Masseroni has once again expressed his desire to face him.
"With all due respect to the YouTubers who are boxing, which is an achievement, Tyson shouldn’t be fighting a YouTuber. Why doesn’t he fight me? I’ve been waiting for him for 35 years! Why does he avoid me so much?" Masseroni said in an interview with journalist Daniel Veuthey for Infobae. The Argentine insists that Tyson “underestimates” him and has “avoided” him for years, even suggesting that the champion might be “afraid of facing a Latino.”
The Story of a Frustrated Fight
Masseroni’s desire to fight Tyson began in 1990 when he tried to challenge him publicly. At the time, Don King supported the idea, but the TV network holding the broadcasting rights pressured for Tyson’s opponent to be Renaldo Snipes instead. Masseroni attempted again in 1998, reaching out to Tyson’s then-manager, Sheldon Finkel, and even secured a letter of intent, though the fight still didn’t happen. He tried again in 2001 and 2020 during the pandemic, but fate wasn’t on his side.
Masseroni’s Message to Paul
Masseroni also delivered a direct critique to Jake Paul, stating that although he is a successful content creator, he’s “not a boxer.” “Who has he fought? What’s the record of his opponents? I’ve seen him fight; he’s just a big guy, that’s all,” said the Argentine, questioning Paul’s experience and abilities as a professional boxer.
