Michael Jordan's Jersey Fetches $4.7 Million at Auction
In the same auction, another of Jordan’s jerseys from the Bulls’ 1988-1989 season went for $1.1 million.
A Chicago Bulls jersey worn by Michael Jordan during the 1996-1997 season sold for $4.7 million at an auction, Sotheby’s reported on Monday.
The auction organizers detailed that Jordan wore the jersey in at least 17 games and that the piece had remained in private hands since the team initially sold it.
Also available to buyers was the U.S. flag Jordan used to cover the Reebok logo on his jersey, due to his association with Nike, during the 1992 Olympic gold medal ceremony in Barcelona.
That flag, signed by the members of the 'Dream Team,' reached $1.8 million.
Altogether, items from the "Colossal - The Ultimate Jordan Collection" at Sotheby’s fetched $8.5 million.
