The Golden State Warriors paid tribute to Klay Thompson, a franchise legend, who returned to the Bay Area for the first time wearing a Dallas Mavericks jersey.

A four-time NBA champion alongside Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and coach Steve Kerr, Thompson—one of the greatest shooters of all time—was honored before the game with a video showcasing some of his most memorable moments with the Warriors.

"Thank you, 11," the video concluded, referencing Thompson’s jersey number. He watched the highlights from the bench and then received a massive standing ovation from the packed Chase Center in San Francisco.

In a special touch, the Warriors gave out captain’s hats to fans, a nod to Thompson’s love of boating and the ocean, which fans happily waved to celebrate one of their all-time favorites. It was planned for Curry to take the mic to speak to the crowd during Thompson’s return, but local media reported that the two players agreed earlier in the week to skip the speeches so they could dive right into the Warriors-Mavericks game.
