What You Need to Know About NFL Week 2
In Week 2 of the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions aim to build on their impressive season openers as they face new challenges.
The Cowboys, fresh off a commanding 33-17 win over the Cleveland Browns, will take on the New Orleans Saints. Dak Prescott led the offense with a touchdown pass to Brandin Cooks, CeeDee Lamb was a constant threat, Ezekiel Elliott scored on a rushing attempt, and kicker Brandon Aubrey was perfect on four field goal attempts. The defense was dominant with six quarterback sacks, including three by DeMarcus Lawrence.
The Saints, coming off a 47-10 thrashing of the Carolina Panthers, will look to continue their strong performance. Derek Carr threw three touchdown passes, and the offense scored on all nine of their drives.
The Detroit Lions, who won 26-20 in overtime against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1, will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs started their season with a decisive 37-20 victory over the Washington Commanders. The Lions’ rushing attack, led by David Montgomery, will be key, while the Buccaneers’ Baker Mayfield, who threw four touchdown passes in his debut, poses a significant threat to Detroit’s secondary.
Sunday’s action includes the San Francisco 49ers, the NFC champions, visiting the Minnesota Vikings. The status of the 49ers’ star Christian McCaffrey is uncertain due to an injury that kept him out of their game against the Jets, which Jordan Mason filled in admirably with 147 yards and a touchdown.
In Kansas City, the Chiefs will seek their second win of the year against the Cincinnati Bengals, who were surprisingly defeated by the New England Patriots in their opener.
Week 2 kicks off on Thursday with a matchup between the Miami Dolphins and the Buffalo Bills, both coming off victories in their season openers.
The week wraps up on Monday with the Atlanta Falcons visiting the Philadelphia Eagles.
