Everton sacks Dyche as Friedkin Group makes move
Sean Dyche has been sacked by Everton just hours before its FA Cup third-round clash with Peterborough United.
The 53 year-old departs the Toffees amid a run of just one win in 11 games, while his side failed to score in eight of its last 10 outings.
The 1-0 defeat by Bournemouth, Everton's eighth Premier League loss of the season, proved the final straw for Dyche, with the Toffees failing to register a single shot on target.
That left the club 16th in the table and just one point above the relegation zone, while its tally of just 15 goals this season is only better than bottom side Southampton (12).
Dyche, who won 26 of his 84 matches in charge, succeeded Frank Lampard in January 2023, and guided Everton to Premier League safety on the final day of that season.
The former Burnley boss also steered the club clear of danger last season, despite having eight points deducted for two separate breaches of the Premier League's Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
However, his fortunes did not improve this season, with his side failing to score in a league-high 11 different games, just one fewer than it drew a blank in during 2023-2024.
Dyche's 30.95 win percentage is the lowest of any of the club's he has previously managed (Watford - 34.69 percent and Burnley - 35.06 percent).
Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman will take charge of first-team affairs on a temporary basis, including the match against Peterborough.
