Internacional fightback stuns Nacional
A stunning comeback from Internacional saw it come from three goals down at home to earn a point in the Copa Libertadores with a 3-3 draw against Nacional.
The visitors started superbly, arriving winless after two matches in Group F but going ahead after just six minutes through Julian Milian, whose sweet flick found the back of the net.
Luciano Boggio doubled the lead four minutes later when he arrived at pace in the box to bury a cross and two minutes before the break, Nacional had a third.
Internacional's second-choice goalkeeper Anthoni spilled a corner at his near post, and Sebastian Coates was first to react for the visitors, smashing the ball home from close range.
The hosts were awarded a penalty in first-half stoppage-time, and Alan Patrick put that away with ease to bring his side back into the game, but nobody could have expected what was to come in the second half.
Having been booed off at the break, Internacional set about an extraordinary comeback. Alexandro Bernabei collected and finished an exquisite ball over the top from Oscar Romero to get it within a goal, and on 73 minutes, Fernando was on hand to head home a corner from Patrick to earn the group leader a point.
The result keeps Internacional top of the group with five points, but while Nacional earned its first point of the campaign, the firstration at blowing such a huge lead will doubtless haunt it for some time.
