Promotion-chasing Sunderland was dealt a blow to its hopes as it fell to a late 1-0 defeat at Stoke City.
Tom Cannon's ninth league goal of the season, scored two minutes into stoppage-time, handed caretaker boss Ryan Shawcross a win in Stoke's first game after the dismissal of coach Narcis Pelach, lifting the Potters up to 18th.
Sunderland remains in fourth spot on 44 points, five adrift of the automatic promotion places.
