Leipzig hangs on to take back fourth spot
RB Leipzig almost blew a three-goal lead against Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga, but held on to win 3-2 and take back fourth spot on the table ahead of Mainz's meeting with Hoffenheim.
Leipzig is two points clear of Mainz after the win at Volkswagon Arena as the battle for UEFA Champions League qualification in Germany reaches boiling point.
Lois Openda put Leipzig ahead in the 11th minute with a precise strike from outside the box before Xavi Simons netted a double to make it 3-0 with less than 50 minutes on the clock.
But Wolfsburg fired up after Killan Fischer scored with a superb strike from distance before Andreas Olsen got the hosts to within a goal of equalising with 15 minutes remaining.
But it wasn't to be for the Wolves, who succumbed to a fourth straight defeat as it's tumble down the table continued, leaving it in 12th place.
For Leipzig, it was a third win in five matches, and its recent resurgence of form appears to have arrived just at the right time.
