The Brazil star ended a troubled spell in Saudi Arabia with Al Hilal to go back home, having played just seven matches in the Saudi Pro League as a result of injuries, his most recent appearance having been in November 2024.

"I made mistakes on my journey but I also had many achievements," an emotional Neymar said during his presentation, choking back tears.

"I left [Santos] as a boy, saw the entire world, and came back as a hero ... so today I am very happy, I cry here with happiness because I have won.

"I wasn't easy, I've had many difficulties in my life, but coming back home with all this prestige, with everyone shouting your name, and receiving the number 10 shirt from the the King [Pele], it's something surreal. I never imagined this in my life."
