The summer so far…
A stable summer on the transfer front for the Bees. Famed for their sensible recruitment, and extensive use of statistics to inform their transfer business it seems that the side from West London has done more of the same. Three standout signings have been made, which will impact the first team. Mark Flekken and Kevin Schade arrive from Bundesliga side Freiburg and look like replacements for goalkeeper David Rayya and banned attacker Ivan Toney. The big money was spent on Wolves defender Nathan Collins, and the Irish centre-back will be looking to strike up a partnership with Ben Mee.
Player to watch…
The biggest question for Thomas Frank will be how to replace the goals of Ivan Toney until the striker returns after serving his ban for illegal gambling in January. Towards the end of the season, Bryan Mbeumo was a more than capable stand-in, and the Cameroonian international will be expected to step up again. Widely considered as a wide forward Mbeumo thrived in the centre and will likely start in the number nine role this season.
Kit Watch
The wild pattern of the third kit really grows on you. As does the vibey video to launch the kit. Unsure how many times this will be worn in competitive games, but a kit that works well off the pitch. 4/5.
Predicted Finish – 10th
what would be considered a successful season for Brentford? The Bees have already proved that through smart recruitment and savvy tactical work, they can achieve a comfortable finish in the Premier League. They will do more of the same again, even without the goals of Ivan Toney for the first part of the campaign. We predict a tenth-place finish.
