Bundesliga - Werder Bremen 0 Wolfsburg 1
Werder Bremen's survival chances took a big blow, following a 1-0 defeat to Wolfsburg
Werder Breman's stay in the Bundesliga seems to be coming to an end, following a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Wolfsburg.
Wout Weghorst's header seven minutes from time, means that Breman are now three points away from the relegation play-off place currently occupied by Fortuna Dusseldorf.
The hosts started the stronger with Josip Brekalo and USA international Josh Sargent coming close in the early stages. After extended periods of pressure Breman's best chance to open the scoring came from Yuya Osako. His shot from outside the box was palmed away by Koen Casteels.
Bremen continued their dominate as the second half progressed, with Davy Klaassen and a free-kick from Ludwig Augustinsson going just over the bar. With the contest looking to be a 0-0 stalemate Wolfsburg struck.
An accurate cross from substitute Felix Klaus found the head of Weghorst for his twelfth goal of the season, to compound a miserable day for Werder.
