The Italian has yet to drop a set this week in Turin, and became only the third man to reach the showpiece match of a season-ending tournament in front of a home crowd after Lleyton Hewitt and Andy Murray.
The world No.1 will face No.5 seed Taylor Fritz for the title after the American came through a much tougher test against Alexander Zverev in their sem-final.
Ruud was never given a chance to settle in the semi-final, and Sinner put it down to his ability to dominate all parts of his game and even go up a level to sweep the Norwegian aside.
"I felt like I was returning really well in the first games of each set, and when you go up a break trying to be very concentrated with the service games," Sinner said.
"I was a couple of break points down at 3-1 in the first set and this could be a moment change, but I managed to deal [with it] somehow, and then after that I raised my level, I tried to be quite intense with each shot, so I'm very happy about today's performance."
Sinner, who is coached by Australian Darren Cahill, hit 23 winners past Ruud, and was emphatic in everything he did, claiming two breaks in the first set and just the one required to win the second. He claimed victory by firing down an ace on his first match point.
The final will be Sinner's second in succession at the ATP Finals.
He lost in straight sets to Novak Djokovic in 2023, but with the Serbian absent in 2024, it's hard to see anyone stopping Sinner this time around.
Fritz has already tasted defeat against the Italian this week, losing 6-4 6-4 in the round robin stage, and the American is aiming to be the first person to beat Sinner indoors, with the Italian boasting a 9-0 record under a roof.
Sinner has also won seven of the eight title deciders he has contested this season, and his imposing 69-6 win-loss record for 2024 will certainly make him the favourite in the title match on Monday (AEDT).
