Trailing 4-2 in the second set, Medvedev tossed his racquet in frustration after a lobbed shot from Fritz landed just inside the baseline, breaking the Russian's serve.
Despite an apology from Fritz, a clearly exasperated Medvedev then kicked his racquet into a court-side microphone, prompting a point deduction.
The Russian then started tossing his racquet and dropping it, as if to indicated a slippery grip on the handle, before turning it around and holding it handle-first as Fritz prepared for the next service game.
