Rangers blows chance to close on top two
Rangers missed the chance to make up ground on Celtic and Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership, slipping to a 1-0 defeat away at Kilmarnock after the top two had shared the points 24 hours earlier.
A win for Rangers would have moved it to within three points of the unbeaten pair at the summit, the Hoops and Aberdeen drawing their crunch match 2-2 at Celtic Park.
But a late and clumsy goal from Killie's Markley Watkins left Rangers with no time to produce a draw, let alone a positive result, and it now sits six points adrift of the highflyers, third on the table, while Killie is up to seventh on nine points after its second win of the season.
