Torino goes top as Verona challenge falters
Torino moved to the top of Serie A after a 3-2 win over 10-man Verona maintained its unbeaten start to the season in Italy's top flight.
Antonio Sanabria had put the visitors ahead in the 10th minute, but Verona equalised two minutes later through Grigoris Kastanos.
The hosts were reduced to 10 men when Pawel Dawidowicz was given his marching orders for elbowing Sanabria in the box, however the Torino man failed to add to his tally when his penalty hit the post.
Sanabria put the rebound into the net, but the goal couldn't stand as a player who takes a penalty cannot score from rebounds if the goalkeeper hasn't touched the ball.
Verona didn't hold on for long, though, as Duvan Zapata rose on 33 minutes to head Torino into the lead and it was Che Adams that added the third with a fine finish from outside the box to all but settle the contest late in the second half.
Daniel Mosquera scored deep into stoppage-time for the hosts, but it was no more than a consolation for Verona, which stays in ninth place on the ladder.
