Moyes appointed Everton boss for second time
David Moyes has made a sensational return to Everton, replacing Sean Dyche at Goodison Park, the club has announced.
Moyes returns to Merseyside 12 years after leaving the Toffees for Manchester United, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract with the club.
During his first stint with Everton between 2002-2013, Moyes oversaw 518 games in all competitions, winning 218, drawing 139 and losing 161, ending with a win percentage of 42.08.
He lasted just 10 months at Old Trafford before being sacked, going on to manage Real Sociedad, Sunderland and two spells with West Ham United.
The 61-year-old has been out of work since leaving the Hammers at the end of last season, having guided them to the UEFA Europa Conference League title in 2023.
Moyes takes over an Everton side which sits 16th in the Premier League after picking up just one win from its past 11 top-flight matches under former manager Dyche.
Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman had been placed in temporary charge after Dyche's dismissal for Everton's FA Cup third round victory over Peterborough United.
"I’m excited to be working with The Friedkin Group, and I am looking forward to helping them rebuild the club," Moyes said.
"Now we need Goodison and all Evertonians to play their part in getting behind the players in this important season so we can move into our fabulous new stadium as a Premier League team."
Announcements regarding Moyes's backroom coaching team at Everton "will follow in due course", according to the club.
Moyes's first game in charge comes against Aston Villa next Thursday (AEDT) at Goodison Park, before welcoming Tottenham Hotspur to Merseyside four days later.
