PSG destroys Lyon to bring title into focus
Paris Saint-Germain scored four goals for the second straight match as it took apart Lyon in Ligue 1 to win 4-1 at Parc des Princes and march ever closer to a third stright league title.
An explosive first half featured all the goals, with Lyon on the back foot from the third minute when Nemanja Matic put through his own net to gift the hosts the lead.
Three minutes later, it was 2-0 as Lyon's defence again faltered to allow Lucas Beraldo to smash home inside the six-yard box from Marco Asensio's corner.
Goncalo Ramos added the third just after the half-hour mark, heading home a pinpoint cross from Achraf Hakimi's right wing, before Lyon offered a semblance of fight through Ernest Muamah, who fired home from outside the box.
Ramos was on hand again to complete a lightning counter-attack by PSG and complete the scoring before the half-time break.
Both sides produced plenty more chances in the second half, but neither managed to add more goals, although Gianluigi Donnarumma was called into action to keep Lyon at bay on more than a few occasions, the visitors besting PSG for shots taken, although both record six on target.
Lyon will be looking to avenge this result when the two sides face each other again in the Coupe de France final on 26 May (AEST).
As far as the league goes, though, PSG is now 11 points clear of second-placed Monaco with five matches remaining, while Lyon sits way back in eighth.
