Sociedad frustrated by Valladolid stalemate
Real Sociedad continues to stutter in LaLiga, settling for a frustrating point at Valladolid after 0-0 draw between the two sides.
The visitors had the best of the first-half chances, Orri Oskarsson seeing a shot blocked at close range and Sheraldo Becker denied by a great save just before the break.
The second half provided the same patter with both sides failing to create clear chances, but Sociedad should have had the lead in the 66th minute when the ball broke through a crowd of players inside the box and landed at the feet of Martín Zubimendi.
Instead of shooting, he elected to lay the ball off to Mikel Oyarzabel, and while the Spain striker put the ball in the back of the net, sloppy positioning meant he was offside despite and the goal wouldn't count.
With just one win this season, Sociedad is languishing in 16th place on the ladder with five points, no more than Valladolid, which sits on the next rung down based on goal difference.
