Mallorca adds to Valladolid's misery
Real Mallorca moved up to fourth on the LaLiga table after beating Real Valladolid 2-1 at Jose Zorrilla Stadium, handing the struggling hosts their third defeat in as many matches.
After a first half that yielded no goals for either side, Mallorca went ahead through a brilliant goal from Cyle Larin, who controlled a high ball and volleyed home in one sensational movement just before the hour mark.
Valery Fernandez added a second seven minutes from time and while a late strike from Ivan Sanchez made for a slightly nervy ending for the visitors, they held on with reasonable comfort to seal all three points.
Valladolid remains in the bottom three with just one win from its eight games so far, five defeats and two draws.
For Mallorca, this was a fourth win in five matches to move it within a point of third-placed Atletico Madrid.
