Tempers boil over after Sheffield United slips up
Sheffield United's torrid week was capped off with a stunning 2-1 loss at struggling Plymouth Argyle as Leeds United moved top of the EFL Championship with a win by the same scoreline at Preston North End.
The Blades lost for a third straight game as Muhamed Tijani netted an 88th-minute winner for bottom club Argyle, which completed an extraordinary comeback.
Chris Wilder's team appeared set to get back to winning ways thanks to Jesurun Rak-Sakyi's goal late in the first half.
Yet Plymouth levelled through Ryan Hardie before, seven minutes later, substitute Tijani volleyed home.
Tempers boiled over at full-time, with Blades boss Wilder unhappy with Plymouth's celebrations in front of the travelling United fans.
The Blades are now five points behind the automatic promotion places, with Leeds moving back above Burnley at the summit on goal difference.
Plymouth's victory put the pressure on Luton Town and Cardiff City, but both of those teams fell to 1-0 defeats to Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City, leaving the Pilgrims bottom only on goal difference, having matched the Hatters' tally of 40 points, with Cardiff in 22nd on 42 points, one behind Derby County, which was denied a win over Portsmouth in a frantic 2-2 draw.
