Oxford United dishes defeat to Norwich in opener
Oxford United made a triumphant return to the EFL Championship with a 2-0 home win over Norwich City in the opening fixture of the season for both teams.
Norwich, which joined Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion in falling short of Premier League football after losing out in last season's play-offs, endured a miserable start to its campaign, conceding a goal in each half at Kassam Stadium.
Mark Harris pounced on a defensive error in the 28th minute before cutting inside and squeezing a finish through Angus Gunn's legs to open the scoring before Cameron Brannagan made the points safe with a stunning first-time strike just before the hour.
