St Pauli belted by Augsburg as pain continues
St Pauli's search for a first Bundesliga win this season goes on after it suffered a 3-1 defeat at Augsburg.
It was the third straight defeat for Australia star Jackson Irvine's side since being promoted at the end of last season, but for Augsburg, it was a first win of the season and a convincing one at that.
The hosts swept St Pauli aside, the visitors coming to life too late in the game when Carlo Boukhalfa headed home in the 74th minute.
It was goalless at the break but Augsburg went ahead almost immediately after the restart when Marius Wolf found the back of the net. Phillip Tietz volleyed in from close range to make it 2-0 on 66 minutes.
St Pauli side looked much better once it ha scored got their goal, but left too much space in behind as it searched for a first point of the season, allowing Yousuf Kabadayı to break free and kill the game in stoppage-time.
