Socceroos star Irankunda scores in Bayern romp
Australia attacker Nestory Irankunda celebrated his debut appearance for Bayern Munich with a goal in the Bundesliga giant's 14-1 win over amateur club FC Rottach-Egern.
Entering the match as a second half substitute with the Bundesliga club leading 7-1, the 18 year-old Australian rising star who completed his move from Adelaide United this month, wasted little time making an impression on new manager Vincent Kompany, scoring in the 59th minute.
Irankunda, who made his senior Socceroos debut in the 2-0 win over Bangladesh on 6 June, also attempted an audacious bicycle kick that cannoned off the post and narrowly avoided crossing the Egern goal-line.
In addition to the Australian's impressive performance, the match heralded the re-emergence of one of the iconic names of modern football, with young German talent Arijon Ibrahimovic adding his name to the scoresheet as one of a raft of second half changes.
Elsewhere for Bayern, Mathys Tel scored hat-trick in a comfortable win over a club more than eight tiers below it in the German football pyramid.
