Nervy Freiburg moves into top six
Freiburg moved itself above Borussia Dortmund into the Bundesliga's top six with a 3-2 win over Holstein Kiel, but it was a nervous finish for the hosts as Kiel scored twice in the final five minutes.
Freiburg went ahead in the 23rd minute when Nicolai Remberg put through his own net.
Christian Gunter doubled the lead before the break with a stunning free-kick and Vincenzo Grifo seemingly wrapped things up with Freiburg's third deep into the second half.
But Kiel found a second wind as Phil Harres bagged himself a brace with goals in the 85th and 90th minutes to set up a grandstand finish.
Despite its best efforts, the visitors were unable to find an equaliser and remain second bottom on the table with just eight points from their 16 games.
Freiburg, meanwhile, is sixth on 27 points having moved two poinst clear of Dortmund after its defeat to Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday (AEDT).
Fifth-placed RB Leipzig, which also has 27 points, has the chance to move up a spot into fourth with a win over Werder Bremen on Monday (AEDT), which would subsequently drop Mainz down a place into fifth despite its 2-0 win over bottom-placed Bochum.
