Guirassy's winner seals Leipzing's first defeat
RB Leipzig blew the chance to go level on points at the top of the Bundesliga and lost it's unbeaten record after Serhou Guirassy headed home the winner for Borussia Dortmund as it came back from a goal down to win 2-1 at Signal Iduna Park.
Bayern Munich had put the pressure on unbeaten Leipzig with a 3-0 win over Union Berlin that returned Vincent Kompany's side to the top of the standings.
It seemed the visitors would handle expectations when Benjamin Sesko put the visitors ahead on 27 minutes, blasting past Alexander Meyer at his near post, the goalkeeper playing as a result of injury to Gregor Kobel, one of nine big names missing for the hosts.
But three minutes later, Max Beier got his toe to Felix Nmecha's header from a corner to poke the hosts level, and it was no more than they deserved after Jamie Bynoe-Gittens had forced an excellent save from Peter Gulacsi just minutes earlier.
Leipzig was restricted to pot-shots from outside the box for the rest of the half, and neither side was able to exert dominance until the 64th minute when Beier was involved again, providing a pinpoint cross from the right which Guirassy was able to nod home to put the hosts in front.
And it could have been better still for Nuri Sahin's depleted side, Julian Brandt forcing Gulacsi into another world-class save with 20 minutes remaining before Beier missed the target with another effort soon after.
But it mattered not as Dortmund took the win, bouncing back from a run of three defeats in all competitions to move up to fifth on the table while Leipzig stays behind Bayern, now three points adrift of the leader after losing for the first time this season.
