Dortmund boosts European hopes with thrilling win
Serhou Guirassy was on target as Borussia Dortmund boosted its European hopes by holding on for a 3-2 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach.
Felix Nmecha and Daniel Svensson were also on target for Niko Kovac's side, which moved within two points of sixth-place Mainz.
The hosts, who were aiming to bounce back from a midweek UEFA Champions League quarter-final exit at the hands of Barcelona, fell behind in the 24th minute, as Ko Itakura struck against the run of play.
Dortmund was also forced into an early change with the in-form Maximilian Beier replaced by Carney Chukwuemeka.
However, Guirassy drilled it level from Pascal Gross's cutback in the 41st minute, while Nmecha slotted in to complete the turnaround and Svensson headed home to make it 3-1 in first-half stoppage-time.
Kevin Stoger gave Gladbach hope from the penalty spot in the 56th minute after Nmecha felled Tim Kleindienst, but Kovac's side held out for its third win in four league games.
