US Soccer legend Megan Rapinoe announces retirement plan
Rapinoe will retire after the Women's World Cup and NWSL season
Megan Rapinoe, one of the most iconic figures in world football is set to retire. The attacking midfielder collected the ballon d'or after a brilliant world cup winning campaign with the USA in 2019. Rapinoe scored six goals at the tournament, also assisting three as she captained her national team to their fourth world cup. She'll be looking to bow out with another victory in the upcoming tournament in Australia and New Zealand. A win would bring the US women's team level as the most successful national team in the world along with Brazil's men's team with five World cup wins each.
