Rangers come from behind to set up Old Firm final
Rangers will play Celtic in the Scottish League Cup final after coming from behind to beat Motherwell 2-1 in the second semi-final at Hampden Park.
Celtic sealed its spot 24 hours earlier when it thrashed Aberdeen 6-0 in the first semi-final, and when Motherwell went ahead after 25 minutes through former Rangers man Andy Halliday, the signs looked ominous for the Light Blues.
Coming off the back of a midweek defeat to Aberdeen that put a massive dent in its Scottish Premiership title hopes, Rangers needed to show some character.
That chance came just before half-time when Mohamed Diomande's shot was parried straight to Cyriel Dessers, but he somehow missed the target and what should have been the equaliser went begging.
Dessers made up for the error not long after the restart, though, firing home at close range to level matters on 49 minutes.
Rangers almost went ahead five minutes later when Jefte fired a stunning volley from the edge of the box that appeared to hit the post, but on closer inspection it was a brilliant save from Aston Oxborough that kept the scores level.
The Motherwell keeper could do nothing to keep out the eventual winner, though, as Nedim Bajrami's effort got jammed under one of his defenders and looped over everyone to land in the back of the net.
Rangers almost scored a third in stoppage-time when Vaclav Cerny hit the post and Connor Barron headed over as he tried to meet Diomande's cross-cum-shot, but the job by then was done and the Old Firm rivalry will be reignited once again on 15 December (AEDT) in the final.
