Milan survives Rapid test in Vienna
AC Milan was given a stern test in its pre-season friendly, coming away with a 1-1 draw against a fired up and fliud Rapid Vienna side Allianz Stadion in Hutteldorf.
With many of its biggest names still resting after UEFA Euro 2024, including new signing and winning Spain captain Alvaro Morata, Alessandro Florenzi was the unlikely Milan goalscorer, putting the Rossoneri ahead on 64 minutes after a first period that saw the home side put the Serie A visitors under a mountain of pressure.
Somewhat unsurprisingly, Vienna was more than willing to fight hard for the equaliser, which eventually came two minutes from time through Furkan Demir, who fired home with the aid of a couple of desperate defensive deflections inside the Milan box to give a fairer reflection to the scoreboard.
